Contagion

Contagion is a 2011 American medical thiller film directed by Steven Soderbergh. The film has an ensemble cast that won or nominated in Academy Award, Kate Winslet (Best Actress, The Reader), Gwyneth Paltrow (Best Actress, Shaksepeare In Love), Marion Cotillard (Best Actress, La Vie En Rose), Jude Law (Nominated for Best Actor, Cold Mountain), Laurence Fishburne (Nominated for Best Actor, What's Love Got To Do with It), Matt Damon (Best Original Screenplay, Good Will Hunting).

The film follows the rapid progress of a lethal indirect contact transmission virus (fomite transmission) that kills within days. As the fast-moving pandemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than does the virus itself. As the virus spreads around the world, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.

Soderbergh received cooperation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and also worked with a group of scientific advisers for the film. With a production budget of $60 million, filming began on September 25, 2010 and was initially scheduled to last until January 11, 2011. Filming locations included Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis, Dubai, Japan, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Brazil, Russia, Malaysia and Hong Kong, where the filming took place at the Hong Kong International Airport.

The film premiered on September 3rd 2011 in 68th Venice Film Festival and since then the film received many postive reviews and critical acclaim from the film critics.
