Forrest Gump is an American comedy - drama film released in 1994 based on the novel of the same name written by Winston Groom. The film directed by Robert Zemeckis. Filming took place in late 1993, mainly in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Extensive visiual effects were used to incorporate the protagonist into archived footage and to develop other scenes.
The film stars Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson, and Sally Field.
The story depicts several decades in the life of Forrest Gump (played by Tom Hanks), a person with an IQ of 75 who travels across the world cause he's ability to do something unperdictable like played ping pong and it bring him to the China, attended to the military school and it bring him to the Vietnam War, meeting historical figures, influencing popular culture, and experiencing firsthand some of the historic events of the latter half of the 20th century.
The film recieved very postive reviews from the film critics and also won many numerous awards, and it recieved 6 Academy Award in 1995 including Best Picture, Best Actor in A Leading Role (Tom Hanks), Best Director (Robert Zemeckis), Best Film Editing, Best Visual Effects, Best Adapted Screenplay. Gary Sinise nominated for Best Actor in A Supporting Role.
